Gold Bar Whiskey Unveils Bitcoin-Inspired Collection
Gold Bar Whiskey has launched a new collection paying tribute to Bitcoin and its enigmatic creator, Satoshi Nakamoto. The release features custom-designed packaging that incorporates Bitcoin imagery.
Introducing the Bitcoin and Satoshi Reserves
The collection includes two new expressions: the Gold Bar Whiskey Bitcoin Reserve and the Gold Bar Whiskey Satoshi Reserve. According to the company, these blends combine Gold Bar’s whiskey-making tradition with the innovative spirit of cryptocurrency. They are designed for collectors, crypto enthusiasts, and whiskey aficionados alike.
Bitcoin Reserve: A Nod to Digital Scarcity
The Bitcoin Reserve is limited to 21,000 bottles, mirroring Bitcoin’s capped supply of 21 million coins. This whiskey is a blend of rare American bourbon barrels, aged between 5 and 14 years, and finished in red wine barrels from Sonoma and Napa Valley, California. Bottled at 93 proof (46.5% ABV), it offers a contemplative profile suitable for both collectors and those new to whiskey.
Satoshi Reserve: Celebrating Decentralized Innovation
The Satoshi Reserve is an ultra-limited edition, with only 999 individually numbered bottles released. It celebrates 15 years since the first real-world use of cryptocurrency, honoring the visionary behind decentralized innovation. This rare whiskey is a single-barrel rye, aged for 14 years, with a mash bill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley. It is distilled at the MGP Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Each barrel is then transported to California and finished in French oak barrels that previously held premium red wines from Sonoma and Napa Valley.
The Satoshi Reserve is bottled at cask strength, with proofs ranging from 115 to 123 (57.5% to 61.5% ABV), depending on the barrel. Each bottle includes two collector’s coins: one embedded in the bottle design and the other housed in a velvet box. Owners of the Satoshi Reserve bottles automatically join the Satoshi VIP Digital Gold Club, gaining exclusive access to future releases, private events at the Gold Bar Distillery in San Francisco, and early access to tickets for select shows and other curated experiences.
“These new releases honor the visionary nature of cryptocurrencies while staying true to our essence of innovation, craftsmanship, and storytelling,” said Elliott Gillespie, president of The Gold Bar Spirits Company. “We are combining tradition with modernity to create a truly unique offering.”
Other Crypto-Inspired Beverages
In March 2024, Brazilian brewery Cervejaria Dogma launched ‘Satoshi’ beer to commemorate the Bitcoin halving. This was one of the first instances in the country of alcoholic beverages paying tribute to the cryptocurrency market.
It appears that more tributes are on the way, with brands recognizing the engagement of Bitcoin enthusiasts with their products.
