A statue honoring Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin, has disappeared from its location in Lugano, Switzerland. The disappearance, which occurred on Saturday, August 2, 2025, has sparked rumors of theft and left the local community searching for answers.
The statue was unveiled in October 2024, meaning it was removed less than a year after its installation. The motive behind the disappearance remains unknown. Theories range from disgruntled Bitcoin critics to an overzealous fan seeking to possess the tribute.
