A fraudulent online scheme is circulating on the social media platform X, using the image of Luiza Helena Trajano, the former CEO of Magazine Luiza. The scam promotes a fake cryptocurrency investment platform promising high returns.
The deceptive website mimics the appearance of a news article from a well-known Brazilian news outlet to lure victims. It falsely claims that Trajano gave a controversial interview on a popular TV show.
Despite inconsistencies that should raise red flags, the fake interview remains online, directing users to Immediate Luminary, the name of the bogus investment platform.
The scam claims that Luiza Trajano made her first million through this investment. This is a blatant lie, as she has been a successful businesswoman for many years.
The fraudulent scheme pressures victims to invest quickly, asking for a minimum of approximately $250 to “start the platform.”
To further deceive potential victims, the website displays a fabricated bank statement with the logo of a major Brazilian bank, showing fictitious withdrawals. This is all part of the scam and should be avoided.
In early June 2025, Luiza Trajano became aware of the unauthorized use of her image in these scams. She issued a warning to her followers on social media.
“It is important to be aware of scams, which are becoming increasingly sophisticated on social media. My image and the images of others are being used to deceive and attract victims. Before clicking on any link, verify the information and be wary of miraculous promises of easy money,” Trajano stated.
